DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF CIVIL DEFENSE
 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR LICENSE OF TRANSPORT OF GAS CYLINDERS

 

The applicant must fills in the established application and enclose the following documents:

  • Copy of the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas license for gas sales

  • Copy of valid vehicle registration card

  • Certificate or letter from the manufacturer or a local agent that the tanker is suitable and in good condition.

Application Procedures, Renewal of license for Transporting Gas Cylinders

  • Certificate from a local workshop or inspection centre that the vehicle is roadworthy. The certificate must be in Arabic

  • Copy of the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas’ license for selling liquefied petroleum gas cylinders

  • Copy of valid registration card of the vehicle

  • Trolleys must be available for carrying the gas cylinders sold to customers

  • The vehicles’ fire extinguisher must be in good condition

  • The owner’s name/address and “selling/transporting Gas” must be written clearly on the doors of the vehicle

  • The gas transporting vehicle must be taken for inspection at the Directorate of Prevention/the prevention sections in governorates/regions.

Specification of the Gas Transporting Vehicle

  • It should be consistent with the D.G. of Civil Defence’s standards

  • It should be diesel-engined

  • The gas cylinders compartment should be covered on the top, grilled on the rear and the sides for ventilation, and floored with plywood

  • The vehicle should be orange-coloured and bearing the cautionary sign of “Becareful..Gas cylinders” on the rear. The transporting company’s name and tel. no. should be written clearly in English and Arabic on the doors on both sides

  • The yellow phosphoric stripes should be fixed to the rear bumper as a caution during night driving

  • Two small fire extinguishers fixed to both sides of the rear of the driver’s cabin. Neither the extinguishers nor their fittings should extrude out

  • A trolley must be available for carrying gas cylinders to customers

  • The vehicle must be taken to the Directorate of Prevention/the prevention section in a governorate on region for inspection and licensing

Application Procedures for Gas Cylinder Storage Licensing

A letter by the applicant to the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas (Dept. of Petroleum Products Sales) enclosing the following documents.

  • Copy of the title deed of the plot (if it is a property)

  • Copy of the lease agreement

  • Copy of the commercial registration. When the applicant is referred by the Dept. of Petroleum Products Sales to the Directorate of Prevention / the prevention section in governorates or regions, the following documents must be attached:

    • The Ministry of Petroleum and Gas 'proper form must be filled in by the applicant and approved by the municipality of the governorate/region/wilaya. The Civil Defence Personnel will visit the site, and if it is found suitable for storing gas, it will be given an initial approval pending the implementation of further requirements.

After completing all the requirements the applicant must inform the Directorate of Prevention/the prevention section in the governorate or region in order to make an inspection visit to ensure the completion of the safety requirements and give the final approval addressed to the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas to issue the final licensing.
