New visa for scientific research launched (5/5/2010) The Directorate General for Passports and Residence has introduced a new visa, only for scientific research. This visa can be obtained by establishments through an application, and they should take full responsibility of the visitors during the course of their stay in Oman.
The visa should be used within three months of the date of issue and is valid for on month. Its validity can be extended be two months at a cost of R050. Applicants can download the applicants from the ROP website. It should be stamped by the sponsor, typed in English or Arabic, and submitted with the following documents;
A letter from the sponsor requesting the visa for the purpose of scientific research .
The agreement of the related departments.
Two copies of the visitor's valid passport.
Two black and white photographs of the visitor, and A copy of the trade record of the sponsor.
