Massive blaze in Al Mawaleh

A massive fire yesterday gutted a 12-room makeshift structure which was used as a residence for workers in the area of Al Mawaleh, Governorate of Muscat, but the blaze did not cause any human losses or injuries. An official at the Royal Oman Police said that the fire was reported to the civil defence centre whose firefighters rushed to the site, which is located behind Al Mawaleh fruit and vegetables market.

The authorities concerned are investigating the causes of the accident, said the official, who stressed the significance of sticking to precautions, maintaining electrical applications and checking out the safety of electrical connections. When such accidents occur, they should be immediately reported to the Emergency Number 9999, while at the same time working to control the spread out of the fire by using fire extinguishers.
