  Violators of Telecommunications Regulatory Act nabbed

According to statistics issued by the Directorate-General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation, violations of the Telecommunications Regulatory Act during 2009 touched 199 cases involving 309 people.
This kind of irregularity has emerged in the recent time considerably in the different governorates and regions of the Sultanate by Asians.
The accused were selling telephone calls illegally. The Royal Oman Police has formed teams to investigate the offenders in different wilayats of the Sultanate.
The perpetrators were arrested as well as the devices that were used were spotted including cards, which are used to make international calls, and the equipment used to transfer sound automatically via the internet. All equipment were imported from outside the country by illegal means.
Violators of the Telecommunications Regulatory Act were sentenced to imprisonment for up to two months with a fine and deportation from the country after implementation of the prison sentence.
