About the Directorate

The Directorate General of Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances was established by the Inspector General of Police and Customs' Decision No 80/2012. Its main functions and responsibilities are as follows:


To make Oman one of the leading countries, regionally and internationally, in combatting narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.


To work efficiently, effectively with our partners in the region and worldwide to combat narcotic drugs.



Royal Oman Police fights the narcotic drugs with a plan that is relevant to the regional and international trend of the problem. The work plan is based on two objectives:

Reduction of the Supply

This means all the executive procedures in relation to control the demand for drugs. Although such procedures are the core responsibility of civilian authorities, Royal Oman Police represented by the Directorate General of Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, plays the following roles in this regard:

International Cooperation

As drugs are an international menace that needs international cooperation to fight, Oman has taken many procedures in this respect:
