Sandal wood Dear friends, in this issue we will introduce you to a N
new craft, the grinding of sandalwood. Sandalwood W
is taken from the sandal tree that has a pleasant It
smell, and it is one of the herbs available in the Om- s
ani environment. Omani women have been using it in
utill today for beautification on occasions as it is one h
of the secrets of women's beauty in the past. Some- w
times it is used to treat some skin diseases. w
Sandalwood is ground by placing it on a smooth cir- h
cular stone in the middle. Then little water is added c
until the wood disappears, and the powder remains. m
After that, it is formed into a ball shape and placed m
in the sun to dry and ground in the pestle and rose r
water drops are added. Finally, it is mixed well and B
applied to the face. This craft is still practiced today W
in most of the Sultanate’s governorates. S
